WELCOME TO FIRST GRADE!
Welcome to a brand new school year at Lyndale School. We are very excited to work together with you and your child to make first grade an exciting, rigorous, academic experience. Here at Lyndale School, we will be incorporating the arts, field trips, and hands on activities to enhance your child's learning. Please take a moment to look at the subject areas that your child will be working on this year.
Reading
In first grade we work to become fluent readers with a focus on decoding and comprehension.
Core Knowledge
At Lyndale School, we follow the Core Knowledge sequence in our classrooms for social studies and geography.
Math
In Math this year, we will be working really hard on problem solving and being able to explain our mathematical thinking.
Science
In first grade we will be investigating several science topics. These topics are inquiry based and allow the students to learn by exploring.
