Grade 3
Welcome to Third Grade!
Third grade is an exciting year for students at Lyndale Community School. We are active in learning our Core Knowledge Sequence in science, social studies, literature, and other areas. This is a school wide adopted sequence which ensures that children will be exposed to a deep core curriculum. We have been able to expand our curriculum with enrichment through field trips to the Science Museum to study animal classification, Mill City to learn about the Flour Industry and Water Power in MN, The MN Science Museum to study Ancient Rome, plus engaging in many other activities.
Third graders write for many purposes using their newly practiced cursive writing.
Our grade is involved in a partnership with The Neighborhood Bridges Program through the Children's Theatre Company of Minneapolis. Teaching artists come in once a week to work with the students on writing and speaking skills, as well as to expose them to a variety of genres. They have the opportunity to expand their vocabulary and acting skills as they interpret and perform skits based on new stories each week.
