Heather Kruse

Hi!  My name is Heather Kruse.  I have been a teacher at Lyndale Elementary since 1994.  I have taught grades 3, 4, 5, and 6.  I enjoy teaching the upper elementary grades.  The kids have great spunk and every year I learn a great deal from them and the texts we read.

I live in Stillwater with my husband, Tim, and our four children, who range in age from 4 - 15.  For fun we like to participate in sports, go on bike rides, go on walks, go sledding, and read books.

I grew up in Bloomington, MN and went to college at St. Cloud State University.  I received my Masters in Education in Curriculum and Instruction through St. Thomas.

Math

The math curriculum is organized into nine units, which are designed for use in the sequence.  The pacing will vary according to school calendars and may also vary depending on the needs of students, and the school's years of experience with this curriculum.

Reading

Independent reading time is very important.  During this independent time, students read at their own reading level.  All books in the classroom are "leveled."  Each student is assessed and then has a conference with the teacher about their own reading level.
