Welcome to First Grade!

My name is Mrs. Dye-Thompson, and I teach First Grade in Room 130. I have been teaching at Lyndale School since 1998. I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.S. degree in Family Social Science. I received my teaching license from the University of St. Thomas in 1998. I have a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from the University of St. Thomas. I also have an Education Specialists (Ed.S) degree and a principal's license from the University of St. Thomas.

I believe that all children can learn, all children can achieve, and children can "get smart." I believe in using a hands-on approach to teaching children, and making lessons come alive for students. I have high expectations, and hold students and myself accountable to learning.

In First Grade, we work really hard in Reading, Math, Writing, Science and Social Studies. We enjoy the community of friends environment in our classroom.

Hi, my name is Miss. S.J. and I will be co-teaching in the classroom all year with Mrs. Dye-Thompson. I am co-teaching as part of my training at the University of Minnesota to become a teacher in the Minneapolis Public Schools. Last year was my first year working for Minneapolis Public Schools, at Lucy Craft Laney Community School.

I graduated from Valley City State University in 2015 with a double major in Criminal justice and Human Services. For the past three summers I’ve been teaching for a summer program called Freedom School located in St. Paul, which introduced me into the teaching field.

Outside of school, I coach DeLaSalle Womens Freshmen basketball team. I love sporting events, attending concerts, traveling and hanging out with my friends and family.
