Special Education at Lyndale
Mission Statement
Our mission is to ensure that all students with disabilities learn. We support their growth into knowledgeable, skilled and confident citizens capable of succeeding in their work, personal and family lives into the future.

Minneapolis Public Schools offers a wide-range of Special Education programs and services. To receive special education services, a student must first be evaluated and meet state criteria. Once qualified, an Individual Education Plan (IEP) is developed for the student. Programs and services are provided to students and their families beginning at birth through age 21 or completion of a secondary education program. Special education is also available for students who live in Minneapolis that attend nonpublic schools.

Lyndale School’s Special Education team is comprised of 2 Special Education Resource Teachers (SERT) and 3 Autism (ASD) Special Education teachers. We have 9 Special Education Assistants (SEA) that work with students in grades High 5 to 5th grade. We are proud of the work we are doing at Lyndale to provide students with the best special education programming while focusing on inclusive practices and encouraging peer relationships.
