Visual Arts- Mrs. Walker
Showcase Artwork

My name is Leann Walker and I have been teaching at Lyndale since 1998.  The art classroom is upstairs in room 229.  Stop and say hello next time you are in the building!

+  I received my undergraduate degree in K-12 Arts Education from the University of Minnesota, Duluth.  After I graduated, I spent two years teaching 6-12th grade visual arts in Bigfork, Mn.

I then traveled to South Texas and taught at Rio Hondo Junior High.  While in Texas, I completed my Masters Degree in Educational Technology from the University of Texas, Austin.

I moved back to Minnesota

to work for Minneapolis Public Schools and enjoy teaching in my home state.

THE GOAL IS TO GIVE EVERY STUDENT MANY DIFFERENT EXPERIENCES WITH ART TOOLS AND SUBJECTS.  STUDENTS ARE EXPOSED TO A WIDE VARIETY OF ARTISTS AS THEY PROGRESS THROUGH THE MPS CURRICULUM.  LEARNING NEW VOCABULARY AND TELLING STORIES THROUGH THEIR ART ARE ADDITIONAL THEMES.

Students also keep a portfolio of work for review.  Artwork is sent home twice a year.  The students at Lyndale create quality work!  You can expect your students’ artwork around the middle and end of each school year, so be on the lookout!
