Assistant Principal Sarah Hunter
Sarah Hunter, Assistant Principal

Dear Lyndale Families,

I am excited to have the privilege of serving your community as the new Assistant Principal. I am truly enjoying getting to know you and your children this fall during and outside of the school day. The thing I missed the most last year in my position as Minneapolis' elementary math lead was being around students every day. My experience in MPS prior to last year included two years as the Administrative Teacher on Special Assignment and three years as elementary math specialist at Sullivan School. Prior to working in Minneapolis, I spent seven years as a middle school math teacher in Minnesota and Anchorage, Alaska.

I attended the University of Minnesota where I received both my Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Elementary Education. I recently completed my Education Specialist Degree and K-12 Principal Licensure at the University of St. Thomas.

Outside of school, I spend most of my time with my two daughters (ages 4 and 8) and my husband in and around our home in St. Paul. I am a distance runner and cross-country skier and enjoy spending time hiking in the mountains and canoeing in the Boundary Waters. I am a proud graduate of the Saint Paul Public Schools and my family has been a part of the Minneapolis Public Schools since 1990 when my mom started her 21 year career in MPS at Andersen, Northrop and then the district office.

I am grateful for the opportunity to work with Mr. Stauduhar and the Lyndale staff and community to meet the needs of all of our students. My highest priority as a school leader is to create and support educational spaces in which all students feel safe, welcome and supported to meet their greatest potential. Thank you for entrusting your children to Lyndale.

Sincerely,

Sarah Knappmiller Hunter
