Hello, my name is Billy Menz and I teach 3rd Grade at Lyndale. This is my second year at Lyndale and I absolutely love it. The community of this school is strong and you can sense it in the building. I love teaching in the urban Minneapolis district because of the diversity city life and city schools bring.
I have been teaching for about 10 years now and my experience comes from Austin, TX and Portland, OR. I have experience at all grade levels in elementary education along with special education and ELL training. When I was in the third grade I decided my life. Either I was going to play centerfield for the Chicago Cubs or I was going to teach elementary school. I chose the latter.
Education is my passion and I strive to bring the best education I can to my classroom. I believe it imperative that we teach the “whole child” in schools and not simply monitor academic achievement. Every child is a different learner with different needs and until those needs are met academic achievement is not possible.
In my classroom the students are expected to work together and be valuable members of our commuity. Through work and play we learn how to succeed ad fail as a community.
Your child’s success in my classroom takes a strong collaboration between parent and school. Please let me know if you have any questions about your child’s education or what we can do to make it an even better experience for them.
I look forward to working with all of you this year. You can contact me by calling the school or email me at william.menz@mpls.k12.mn.us. You can also call my cell at 503-201-5550. Please don't call after 8 pm but this is the best way to reach me.
