The Principal's Corner

Dear Lyndale Families,

We have made it to the end of the first quarter and Sarah and I would like to thank our students, staff and families for their continual efforts to support our wonderful school community. As we close out one chapter of the school year and move into the winter months I think it is appropriate to revisit our school's purpose:

Our energies and efforts are committed to a collaborative culture focused on positive outcomes for students, families and staff.

You have entrusted us with your students and in turn we have a responsibility to do everything within our power to ensure their social, emotional, and academic needs are being met to the best of our abilities. In addition, we at Lyndale Community School must take active measures to promote ongoing, culturally responsive communication with all families so that they feel empowered as equal partners in the education of their students.

One such example of this belief in action is Parent Teacher Conferences. While it is true that we strive to have over 95% of our families attend and participate in a conference with their child's teacher, we acknowledge that there are a variety of factors that may inhibit us from reaching our goal. At Lyndale Community School we recognize that family engagement looks different for each family and we apprecite the many ways in which you assist your students throughout the course of their elementary journey. If you have not had the opportunity to meet with your student's teacher to discuss their progress thus far in the school year please call the main office and we can assist you in making this a reality.

Finally, we ask that you support our efforts as a site to have all families complete the Application for Educational Benefits regardless of whether or not they think they will qualify for free or reduced meal status. The percent of students who qualify for educational benefits is directly related to the amount of money each school receives from the state of Minnesota to support student learning by funding things such as lower student to teacher ratios, bilingual program aides and instructional materials. Thank you all for your assistance in reaching our completion rate goal 100% in service of our Lyndale Leaders!

As always, feel free to let us know if there is anything you need from us and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Mark Stauduhar, Principal
