The Principal's Corner

Spring is finally here!

As we emerge from what was a long and cold winter, we are committed to finishing the school year on a positive note, providing our students with high quality learning experiences, and making the last weeks of school both fun and engaging.

Throughout the 2017-2018 School Year, Lyndale has been privileged to partner with the Tree Trust organization in an effort to bring outdoor environmental science to life through their Learning with Trees curriculum. Through authentic learning opportunities, students at Lyndale have learned about the important role trees play within our community in preparation for an All School Planting Day on April 30th. During this event, students, staff, families and volunteers will work through each phase of the planting process in an effort to beautify our school grounds. Additionally, we will be creating an Outdoor Learning Lab with 10 benches and new flowering trees for classrooms to use for years to come. Many of our stakeholders contributed to this initiative, and I would like to extend a special thank you to Steve and Christina McHenry, Mr. Menz, Mr. Thompson, Ms. Hunter, and Tree Trust for making this project a reality. Our community is grateful for your work!

On May 21st, we will be celebrating Lyndale Community School being named a 2017 School Excellence by the Minnesota Elementary School Principals' Association. Throughout the day, Lyndale Students will participate in a variety of activities that honor and recognize our school community, culminating in an all school assembly at 2pm. In the evening, families and community members are invited to celebrate and socialize on our playground from 5:00-6:30. Snacks and light refreshments will be provided.

Finally, 5th Grade Recognition has been moved to Thursday, June 7th due to the removal of the last two days of the school year. Please be on the lookout for subsequent communications from our school regarding this event in the weeks to come. We look forward to sending our oldest Lyndale Eagles off to Middle School by recognizing their accomplishments and honoring their efforts during their time at our school!

Let's finish the year strong, see you soon!
