A week of reading and fun starts today! In addition to reading and tracking minutes, students will participate in some fun special activities this week.

Read-a-thon Week Special Activities
  • DEAR Time:  When the announcement comes over the school loudspeaker, students will Drop Everything And Read. There will be 10 minutes of DEAR Time during every school day this week.
  • Silly Stunt Voting:  Each morning before classes start, students can vote for which silly stunt they would like to see Ms. James and Mr. Stauduhar perform at STEM Night on February 16. Students have to reach the school reading goal for the stunt to happen.
  • Growing the Eagle: Students will fill out eagle feathers for their reading minutes and the feathers will be added to the Reading Eagle in the hallway. More reading = more feathers. Watch the Reading Eagle grow!
  • Book Character Dress-up Day on Friday, February 10:  Students are encouraged to dress up as their favorite book character. No violent costumes/weapons.
Read-a-thon Information Packets were sent home with students on Friday, February 3. You can also find the Information Packet on the school website at http://lyndale.mpls.k12.mn.us/read-a-thonAnd don't forget, packets and donations are due back to school in one week -- Monday, February 13.
