No School October 16-18

There is no school this Wednesday-Friday, October 16-18. Parent/Teacher conferences will be held after school and in the evening on Tuesday, October 15, and during the day on Wednesday, October 16. School will be back in session on Mon. Oct. 21.

Great Lakes Apple Crunch

In honor of National Farm to School Month, the sixth annual GREAT LAKES APPLE CRUNCH is taking place on Thursday, October 10! On this day, MPS will join schools across the Great Lakes Region in crunching into locally sourced apples to celebrate healthy eating and local food. Lyndale will be having our crunch countdown at 1:45pm.

Twin Cities Kids Run

On Saturday, October 5th, students and families from all over the Twin Cities will be at the State Capitol in St. Paul participating in various runs to kick off the Twin Cities Marathon weekend. Many Lyndale students have signed up to participate in the mile and half mile runs. There is a free bus leaving from Lyndale on Saturday, October 5th at 8:20am and returning by 12:00pm. Look for bus information in your child's backpack on Wednesday, October 2nd. Please contact Ms. Grimes for more information

Flu Shot Clinic During Fall Carnival — Fill out Registration Form Early

A flu shot clinic will be available during the annual Lyndale Fall Carnival this Thursday, October 3, 5:30-7:30pm. This year, you can fill out your forms ahead of time. Get the Flu Shot Registration Form [pdf], print it out, and bring it to the carnival. Printed forms will be available there if you don't have a printer.

  • Bring any/all health insurance cards or a copy (front only)
  • Wear clothing that provides easy access to the upper arm (short sleeve shirt/blouse)
Adults and children who are uninsured can get free shots!
Lyndale School Fall Carnival!

Come one, come all! The Lyndale Fall Carnival will be held this Thursday, October 3, from 5:30pm - 7:30pm. This is a fun PTO-sponsored event for the whole family with games, BINGO, prizes, a dunk tank, food, spirit wear, and more.

Tickets are only 50 cents each (one ticket per game; two tickets for the bounce house, dunk tank, and snacks). Tickets can be purchased on Wednesday, October 2, before school, and during the Carnival. Pizza dinner available for $3 suggested donation — maximum $20/family (reminder: only cash or checks accepted). The book fair and a flu shot clinic will also be open.

Do you have some gently used stuffed animals or small toys to donate? Please drop them off in the office next week! We will reuse them as prizes for the games.

Building Garden Momentum over the Winter

MPS Culinary Center | 812 Plymouth Avenue North, Minneapolis

Join MPS Culinary & Wellness Services and Spark-Y Youth Action Labs for a FREE school garden training. Hear what’s happening in gardens around the district, learn best practices for winterizing your garden, explore hands-on garden lessons for your classroom, and apply for some EXCITING new garden resources and opportunities for MPS schools!

You'll also get to check out the new outdoor learning space at the Culinary Center. **Everyone who comes will be entered to win a FREE raised garden bed with built-in irrigation (valued at $1700) for your school! 

This training is FREE and open to any parent, staff, or community member who supports a MPS school garden or would like to support a future school garden!

The Pleasant Pathway starts Friday, October 4

It is that time of year again! We are pleased to announce the beginning of the Pleasant Pathway! To increase student health, raise academic achievement, build community, and foster environmental consciousness, all Lyndale students who ride the regular education buses will begin their Friday mornings with a ½ mile walk to school (weather permitting). The Pleasant Pathway will run Fridays, starting October 4th, until Thanksgiving break and will resume in the spring. All students on regular education buses will be included in this program. There is nothing further you must do. If you have questions, would like to volunteer, or do NOT want your student to participate in this activity, please contact Assistant Principal Powell,, 612-668-4000.

Join us for the first Stay & Chat of the year on Friday, September 27 from 8:25-9:00am. Every last Friday of the month, you are invited to meet with Principal Stauduar and Assistant Principal Powell and other parents for coffee and a little social time after drop off. We look foward to seeing you!
