Hello! My name is Charise Powell and I am honored to be the Assistant Principal here at Lyndale Community School. I have been an educator in Minnesota for over the past decade and am excited for this new journey in my career as an educator. Most of my experience has been as a classroom teacher, having taught Pre-K and grades 2-4.
I attended Southwest MN State University where I received my B.A. in Literature/Creative Writing. Upon graduation, I decided to volunteer at a nearby MPS school in NE Minneapolis and absolutely fell in love with teaching. This experience led me to go back to school to receive my K-6 teacher license and M.S. in Teaching from St. Scholastica. My passion for cultural responsive education led me to receive a Graduate certificate from St. Mary's and my desire to support and inspire others led me to receive my K-12 Principal license from Mankato State.
I am a forever learner and a forever advocate for equitable educational experiences for every single student. I have lived in the Minneapolis area for all of my life, mostly in NE Minneapolis. I live with my fiancé Anthony and our son Anthony (aka Tony), as well as our beloved dog, Billie. When I am not at Lyndale, I love baking, watching movies, and spending time exploring the city with my family.
