Description of the program:
The Arabic elementary program at Lyndale is the first program in the Twin Cities offered to elementary students in public schools. This program was launched in 2008 through a fund from the US government and is offered to students in 2nd, 4th and 5th grade.

This is an exciting opportunity for our kids at Lyndale to learn about the Arabic culture and language, which is considered by the US Department of Defense as one of the critical languages that need to be acquired by more Americans in order to promote understanding, respect and peace with people from this culture.

The goal of this program is for students to acquire the foundation of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in Arabic in a cultural context. This program is designed to open the eyes of students to a new perspective by teaching language through culture and allowing students to make comparison with their own culture.
