Ms. White, MTSS Lead

Hello! My name is Rachel White and I am the Lyndale MTSS Lead for the 2019-2020 school year. What is MTSS? My role includes teaching 4/5 Telescoped Math, differentiation specialist, testing coordinator, as well as supporting interventions through MTSS. From 2016-2019 I was the literacy specialist at Lyndale.

I have taught in a variety of schools and cities over the past 16 years. Most of my time was in Saint Paul Public schools but I also taught in suburban districts as well as in Arizona for two years. I have my BS in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin-Rover Falls. I have my K-12 reading license from Concordia as well as my MA in Educational Technology and Innovation from Capella.

When I am not teaching, I spend my time with my family including my partner and four stepchildren (ages 18, 14, 13, and 11). I also enjoy being with my four-legged son Zeus, who is a 12 year-old pug. I enjoy reading, watching crime related TV shows, and camping at the North Shore.

Please feel free to contact me at: or 612-668-4000.

What is MTSS?
Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is a comprehensive, evidence-based prevention framework. Within MTSS, multiple levels of supports are provided to support the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development of all students. Through it, all students are given access to inclusive and equitable educational practices that minimize opportunity gaps. Data is used to differentiate core instruction and select appropriate interventions for students who need supplementary support. The progress of all students is monitored to determine the effectiveness of the supports provided and to change course when necessary. MTSS also supports the development of staff and school systems through professional development and collaboration among cross-departmental teams of school staff and leadership.
