Lyndale Community,

At MPS, we know how important it is to have a great Principal in every school. I also believe that we cannot select the best person to lead your school without your perspective and participation. On behalf of the Superintendent, I'm looking forward to partnering with you later this month as we work to identify your future leader.

Here's what you can expect from the hiring process:

  • Assemble the Interview Team: I'll work with Assistant Principal Powell to identify up to 10 people (members of the Site Council and ILT) for the interview team and will schedule time for this team to meet and interview finalists virtually in the first week of June. Site Council will discuss this process and select representatives. The Site Council President will provide me with a list of three to four names. The school Instructional Leadership Team will also choose up four representatives and provide me with the names. Once I have the names of the interview team, I will confirm a time for the virtual interviews as well as provide a schedule.
  • Leadership Profile: The internal and external communities have participated in a survey to capture their perspective around the characteristics and skills valued most in a Principal. The feedback will become part of your school's Leadership Profile, which the interview team will use to guide the interview process.
  • Selecting Finalists: Our district has been working to recruit a diverse pool of talented leaders who are interested and qualified to lead an MPS school on a yearly basis. In partnership with Human Resource, I'll identify a small group of finalists who could be a great potential fit for your school.
  • Interviews: On our scheduled interview day, the team will meet virtually with a representative from Human Resource to orient to the process, finalize the interview plan, review resumes, and then prepare to interview finalists. Through this process, the interview team will determine a final recommendation for each finalist.
  • Selection: I will bring your recommendations and feedback to the Superintendent, who will make the final selection decision. We will move as quickly as possible to extend an offer to the selected candidate and negotiate the details of their contract. As soon as your new Principal has been confirmed, I'll be back in touch to share the good news and introduce them to the entire school community.

If you have any questions along the way, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. I look forward to our work together and to identifying an extraordinary Principal for Lyndale.

Sincerely,

Ron Wagner Associate Superintendent
